Maxi operation by the Carabinieri against a criminal group with a logistic base in the Capital. On behalf of the Anti-Mafia District Direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Carabinieri of the Investigative Nucleus of Rome carried out 28 precautionary measures (11 in prison, 16 under house arrest and one under a duty to sign). According to the investigators, one of the historic promoters of the Banda della Magliana, Marcello Colafigli, was in charge. Despite being in semi-custody, he managed to plan the sale and purchase of large quantities of drugs from abroad while maintaining relations with exponents of the 'ndrangheta, camorra and the Foggia mafia.

Colafigli was recognised, together with Franco Giuseppucci, Enrico De Pedis, Maurizio Abbatino and Nicolino Selis, as one of the promoters of the Banda della Magliana criminal group. Graced with several life sentences, he was convicted, among others, of the kidnapping and murder of Duke Massimo Grazioli Lante della Rovere (considered to be the action with which the gang began its criminal activity) and the murder, as instigator, of Enrico De Pedis.
