Inaugurated in Fiorano (Modena) by DSV, a global operator in the transport and logistics sector, the new DSV Proximity logistics hub, designed to serve customers with highly efficient solutions. The project was realised by GSE.
The hub, which covers a total area of 100,000 square metres - for a total investment of 100 million euro - has been developed through a major redevelopment of a disused industrial area, with the aim of enhancing a strategic junction in the Modena area. Three logistic units make up the hub and, to optimise inbound and outbound flows, they will be interconnected by a bridge. The project, which complies with the most advanced ESG standards, will be a candidate for Breeam 'Very Good' certification. DSV Proximity was born from a clear vision: to turn proximity into a competitive advantage. The new hub concentrates activities that were previously distributed over ten separate warehouses into three logistics assets, defining a new, leaner, integrated and high added-value operational architecture.
"We have redesigned," emphasised Maciej Walenda, ceo Europe of DSV Contract Logistics, "the relationship between infrastructure, processes and people in an unconventional model of industrial logistics in which the logistics operator becomes a strategic bridge between manufacturers and suppliers, reducing physical distances, operating times and supply chain complexity.
"This project, which will be developed on brownfield following a major demolition, reclamation and recovery operation," said Valentino Chiarparin, Country Manager of GSE Italy, "is a concrete example of sustainable regeneration that gives new life to a historical site, transforming it into a modern, functional and sustainable logistics hub.
"This reconfiguration," adds Davide Uracchi, managing director of DSV Contract Logistics, "allows a 15% increase in available operational space, accompanied by a significant reduction in logistical complexity. Overall operation times are reduced by 45%, with a drastic cut in kilometres travelled each day (-45.7%) and a 33.3% reduction in the number of vehicles in circulation. A concrete impact on flow optimisation, process agility and the overall efficiency of thesupply chain'.
Designed to increase responsiveness along the supply chain, reduce operational complexity and offer companies logistical support perfectly aligned with the pace of their production processes, the new DSV hub introduces new efficiency levers through advanced pre-assembly services, quality control, product finalisation and integrated management with strategic suppliers.
