Ducati takes a historic and unexpected step in the motorbike world: the arrival of the Desmo450 MX, the first motocross bike ever produced by the Borgo Panigale company, marks the brand's official entry into the world of competitive off-road racing. A debut that does not go unnoticed, not only for the declared performance, but also for the maniacal care of the production process.
Until now, Ducati was synonymous with high-performance road bikes: Panigale, Streetfighter, XDiavel and Multistrada dominated the company's portfolio. With the Desmo450 MX, Ducati launches into a completely new segment, targeting professional riders and motocross enthusiasts, offering a bike developed for competition with a deeply racing DNA.
And in keeping with Ducati tradition, the motocross model also brings with it ample performance baggage. The Desmo450 MX is fitted with a single-cylinder engine capable of delivering 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 53.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, with a maximum speed set at 11,900 rpm. All this packed into a body weighing just 104.8 kg, ensuring an extremely competitive power-to-weight ratio in its class.
Although it is unlikely to be seen on the road, the Desmo450 MX is aiming to make its mark in paddocks and on motocross tracks throughout Europe. The first examples are already reaching the riders who have booked it, confirming the confidence that part of the community has placed in this ambitious debut.
However, the motorbike is available to the public with a base price of 12,990 euros, and an extensive catalogue of accessories designed for customisation and track optimisation.
