Dumarey to take over Alpine’s motorsport operations; agreement reached on the sale
The Viry-Châtillon site is set to be taken over by the Belgian group, which is looking to diversify its presence in the powertrain sector – Consultations with staff are now underway
A new industrial milestone for the Dumarey Group, a Belgian group with strong roots in Italia, between Turin and Tuscany. Dumarey and the Renault Group have initiated a process to acquire Alpine Racing SAS, with the aim of strengthening the Dumarey Group’s expertise in the motorsport sector. The agreement, which has been signed and presented to the trade unions, provides for the Dumarey Group to acquire the Alpine Racing site in Viry-Châtillon, ensuring job security for its employees – around a hundred technicians and engineers.
Specialising in powertrain technologies and the development of engines, energy storage systems and solutions for the automotive industry, the Dumarey Group aims to diversify its activities by expanding its presence in motorsport. The project would enable the Group to retain and build on its employees’ expertise and maintain the quality of the technical infrastructure at the Viry-Châtillon site.
A consultation process has been launched within the company, the outcome of which will be presented at a future works council meeting. All employees of Alpine Racing SAS would be transferred to the purchaser. “The transaction would create the most favourable conditions for ensuring the long-term sustainability of Alpine Racing SAS’s operations and knowledge base, whilst safeguarding jobs. It would also enable the core activities of the Alpine Racing SAS teams to be strengthened, creating new opportunities in the future to put their expertise in Formula 1 engine development at the service of teams involved in motorsport,” writes Dumarey in a statement.
Motorsport has always been at the heart of operations at the Alpine Tech site in Viry-Châtillon. This centre of excellence boasts over four decades of experience in developing solutions for Formula 1, as well as recognised expertise in hybrid and electric powertrains, simulation, software and testing.
“The Viry-Châtillon site has built up a solid reputation over time for innovation and the development of advanced technologies. We see considerable potential in combining its highly skilled teams and technical capabilities with Dumarey’s entrepreneurial culture and the diversification of our industrial footprint. Our ambition is to preserve and further enhance this exceptional wealth of knowledge, whilst creating new opportunities for growth,” emphasises Guido Dumarey, Chairman and Founder of the Dumarey Group.
