EA Sports FC 26, the new instalment of Electronic Arts' popular football series, is due for release on 26 September 2025. Every year in September, the new 'Fifa' is as much a ritual as the start of the Serie A league, the football market and the start of school. Every year, little big innovations are introduced in gameplay, technology, and multiple game modes. The EA Sports machine, every year, also responding to the requests of the player community, moves, modifies, improves, refines, and files every corner of what has been the best-selling game in Italy for decades.
After the separation from the FIFA brand, EA seems to be looking in two directions: it is aiming at two types of players. The more arcade, that is, the more competitive one, who plays online with friends, who is a black belt in combos, that is, who wants a fast game, quick passes, lightning-fast dribbles and lots of goals. This is the player who prefers Fut and Club modes, where basically the individual, the champion, counts more than the collective. Then there is the more simulative player, the one for thought-out football, who plays with tactics, who wants realism, simulation and ball physics. This player, who prefers Career and offline matches, wants a football, if you like, more faithful to the real one, slower and closer to the splendour of Pro Evolution Soccer.
One of the most significant innovations of EA Sports FC 26 is precisely the dual nature of the gameplay, designed to please both competitive players and simulation enthusiasts.
What changes?
In February, EA acquired Tracab Technologies. The gameplay also benefits from this technology for the evolution of HyperMotion V3. The new engine should ensure smoother and more realistic animations. Dribbling has been refined to offer more precise control, with more frequent touches of the ball and more agile changes of direction, while goalkeepers show more believable behaviour, reducing random saves and unpredictable rebounds. Also back is the return of the low shot, a move beloved by long-time fans, which can be activated with a double press of the shot button, perfect for surprising opposing goalkeepers.
The game boasts more than 20,000 players, 750 clubs and 35 leagues, but Italian fans will have to contend with the absence of the official Milan and Inter licences. On the other hand, new historical stadiums and HyperMotion V3 technology promise a top-class visual experience. Furthermore, the mode is enriched with more cinematic interactions, with animated press conferences and negotiations, and more in-depth youth management.
