Earthquake, two magnitude 4 tremors in Romagna: trains suspended
Epicentre in Faenza, earthquake felt between Ravenna and Forlì. No damage to persons or property reported at the moment
Two earthquake tremors were felt this morning in Romagna. The first tremor, felt at 9:27 a.m., was magnitude 4.3 with epicentre 7 kilometres from Russi, in the province of Ravenna (the city is located between Forlì and Ravenna), at a depth of 23 kilometres. The second tremor, as reported by the Seismic Hall of the Ingv-Rome, occurred two minutes later, and was of magnitude 4.1 with epicentre 8 kilometres from Faenza, still in the province of Ravenna, not far from the first one. At the moment, fear is being reported among the population, but no damage is reported.
The local population has taken to the streets but, at the moment, there is no damage to persons or property, nor have there been any reports of critical situations in the area. Twenty or so, 22 shortly after 11.15 a.m., trains were cancelled in Romagna following technical checks on railway lines. The routes affected by the suspension of traffic were, in particular, Imola to Cesena, Castelbolognese to Ravenna, Mezzano to Ravenna and Faenza to Ravenna. The suspensions and cancellations on the routes in question were felt on the Bologna-Ancona and Bologna-Ravenna-Rimini lines, with several trains reporting delays.ù
At the Faenza station, the temporary suspension of circulation and the cancellations are welcomed by the many passengers getting off the trains with quiet resignation. While waiting for the end of the checks on the tracks, started from the first moments after the earthquake, queues are lengthening at the ticket offices to reschedule the journey, ask for information on the validity of tickets, and enquire about possible substitute bus rides. Taxis for short distances outside the railway station, including shared rides, are particularly in demand.
