Earthquake: a 3.9-magnitude tremor in Linguaglossa, in the Catania area

An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale struck the Linguaglossa area, in the province of Catania. The INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology) reported this, stating that the tremor was recorded at 12.24 at a depth of 1 km.

“The earthquake caused the Pernicana fault, which is linked to volcanic activity, to rupture.”
The road to Piano Provenzana, in the Ragabo area, has been blocked. Restaurants in the area have been evacuated as a precaution . There are no reports of any other damage. Investigations are ongoing; Civil Protection, the Forestry Service, the local council and the provincial authority are on site.” This was announced by the head of Sicilian Civil Protection, Salvo Cocina.
