ECB: Lagarde says peace in the Middle East is positive but the situation remains fragile
"The outlook remains uncertain, with upside risks to inflation and downside risks to economic growth. The Middle East peace agreement is welcomed, but the situation remains fragile, with the risk of setbacks or a further escalation.” This was stated by ECB President Christine Lagarde in her address to the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs in Brussels. “The implications of the war for inflation and growth in the medium term,” she added, “will depend on the intensity and duration of the energy shock, as well as the extent of its indirect and second-round effects. This uncertainty is reflected in the wide range of possible outcomes for inflation and growth contained in the alternative scenarios developed by experts as part of their projections.”
