ECB: Nagel ‘concerned’; anti-EU stances deter foreign investors
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - The rise of parties opposed to the European Union and the euro is causing concern and risks driving away foreign investors. This was stated by Joachim Nagel, President of the Bundesbank and member of the ECB’s Governing Council.
"Yes, I am concerned. What does all this mean for our country, for our society and for the values we share?" said Nagel. Some of the proposals put forward by anti-EU parties are also "counterproductive from an economic point of view". “Do they help attract foreign investors to our country? Absolutely not,” the Bundesbank president emphasised. “I believe they will be reluctant and will steer clear of doing business here. So yes, I am concerned,” Nagel concluded.
