Edenred celebrates the interest shown by investment funds in Paris

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Investment funds show interest in the French company Edenred, sending its share price soaring in Paris. The company, which markets Ticket Restaurant meal vouchers, confirmed to AFP that it had been “approached by investment funds”, following reports published by La Lettre. However, the company clarified that “there is no certainty regarding the continuation of their interest or the existence of a possible acquisition deal”.

According to *La Lettre*, the British fund BC Partners is reportedly leading the negotiations. When contacted by AFP, the fund declined to comment. A potential takeover by several investment funds could lead to Edenred being delisted, adds La Lettre. In recent times, Edenred’s share price has in fact been affected by various regulatory and legal developments affecting the meal voucher sector in France, Italia and Brazil. The prolonged fall in share prices had also led to the group’s removal from the CAC 40 – the index comprising France’s 40 largest companies by market capitalisation – at the end of 2025. The share is trading at around €23.5, almost three times lower than at the same time three years ago.

Brazil and Italia, which each account for around 10% of Edenred’s global operating revenue, have introduced a cap on the fees paid by merchants for meal vouchers and food vouchers: 5% in Italia from September 2025 and 3.6% in Brazil from the end of February 2026. At the end of April, Edenred reported a 0.8% increase in turnover for the first quarter, despite the impact of the new regulations, reaching €730 million.
