Edison completes the refurbishment of its wind farm in Abruzzo: 200 million in investment
Capacity has increased from 114 to 186 MW, with 173 wind turbines replaced by 47 latest-generation turbines
Edison has completed the comprehensive refurbishment and recommissioning of the group’s entire wind farm in Abruzzo, with a total capacity of 186 MW. This project, involving technological modernisation and capacity expansion, was carried out in two phases – between 2019 and 2021 and subsequently between 2025 and 2026 – representing a total investment of over 200 million euros.
With the completion of the works and the recommissioning of the plants, Edison has increased its installed capacity in Abruzzo from the original 114 MW to the current 186 MW, whilst reducing the number of wind turbines on the mountain ridges by 73% (173 wind turbines have been replaced with 47 latest-generation turbines) and increasing renewable energy production 2.5-fold to 355 GWh per year.
