There was one market segment that BMW all-terrainers did not cover: that of A2 licence holders, with a power limit of 35 kW. At Eicma 2024 the German manufacturer showed how it will fill this gap: the Concept F 450 Gs, which should go into production by next year, prefigures what a new model series between the small G 310 and the medium F 800/900 might look like.

The colour scheme is that of the Trophy version of its big sister R 1300 Gs: a combination of blue, white and red, with the basic colour Racing Blue metallic. The inline-twin engine was developed from scratch and, thanks to a special ignition offset never used before, is distinguished by its character and propensity to reach high revs. Compliant with class A2, this engine delivers 48 hp. The engine's extremely compact dimensions, excellent displacement-power ratio and low weight are the result of innovative solutions and the use of lightweight materials such as magnesium.

The Concept F 450 GS features a fully adjustable upside-down fork and a shock absorber with load-dependent damping, drawing on technologies from rally and enduro sport. Compared to the concept, the production version should only have a lower saddle and, perhaps, die-cast aluminium wheels, again with a diameter of 19" at the front and 17" at the rear.On the BMW stand, there will also be space for the R 1300 Gs Adventure, recently presented to the press, the revamped M 1000 RR and S 1000 RR superbikes, the M 1000 R and S 1000 R roadsters, technically and visually updated with extended standard equipment, and the 2025 model year of the scooter C 400 X and C 400 Gt.
