Eicma 2026: Zontes launches four maxi scooters and a 150 cv naked bike
The Chinese manufacturer is expanding its scooter range with the new 552 twin-cylinder family, unveiling the sporty Zt853-R and updating its range in the lower displacement categories
Zontess, the Chinese brand belonging to the Tayo Group, unveiled new scooter models and a number of motorcycle innovations at Eicma 2026
Four twin-cylinder scooters
The new Zt552T platform comprises four models, all powered by a 531 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine delivering 47.6 cv and 56 Nm of torque. The engine features twin balance shafts to minimise vibrations and is paired with a CVT transmission with a double-toothed belt running in an oil bath. The ride-by-wire throttle allows you to select two riding modes and use cruise control, whilst traction control and ABS complete the electronic control system. The most distinctive version is the ZT552T-G, an adventure-style maxi scooter, featuring 17- and 15-inch spoked wheels, steel skid plates, an aluminium engine guard and suspension with increased travel (140 mm for the front fork), whilst the braking system features two 276 mm front discs with radial calipers.
The other versions are the Zt552T-S, which offers a more balanced road-going set-up; the Zt552T-Z, which features a sportier design; and the Zt552T-H, which focuses on more compact dimensions and a low weight.
Zt853-R, a super naked bike
The real surprise of the show, however, is the Zt853-R, a naked bike powered by an 847 cc three-cylinder engine, capable of producing 150 cv and 90 Nm of maximum torque. Zontes claims a top speed of 280 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The chassis features a second-generation aluminium frame, a single-sided swingarm and fully adjustable Kayaba suspension. The braking system is by Brembo, with twin 310 mm front discs, whilst the electronic package includes a six-axis inertial measurement unit, cornering ABS, traction control, adjustable anti-wheelie system, launch control and a bidirectional quickshifter. The design is rounded off by numerous carbon-fibre details and a distinctly racing-inspired aesthetic. The ZT703-RR also remains in the range – the 699 cc, 95 CV three-cylinder sports bike – which receives electronic and aerodynamic updates, including ride-by-wire throttle, cruise control and new aerodynamic elements integrated into the fairing.
Scooters
Zontes is also turning its attention to urban mobility with the new Zt175T-X and Zt175T-V scooters, fitted with a 169 cc single-cylinder engine producing 18.8 cv. The die-cast aluminium frame helps keep the weight down to 119 kg, whilst the claimed fuel consumption of 2.4 litres per 100 km gives a range of over 450 km.
