Back to the roots. The fourth leg of the Uim E1 Electric Powerboat World Championship will be held on Lake Maggiore, a place that has seen (and is still seeing with maintenance) the birth of the RaceBird, the e-boats that reach 93 kilometres per hour. The race, to be held in Marina di Verbella on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 June, was organised under the patronage of the Lombardy Region and the President of the Region Attilio Fontana. Marina di Verbella is also home to the E1 Pilot Academy training programme, a place that identifies and monitors future E1 racing stars. The race track (seven stages of the World Championship), located within the Ticino Natural Park, is sheltered from winds and waves, offering good racing conditions for the 9 teams (18 pilots in total, half of them women) who will be able to push the RaceBirds to a maximum speed of 50 knots.
The stages
.The calendar of the second Uim E1 Championship presented by Pif is therefore as follows: in addition to the races already held on 24-25 January in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), 21-22 February in Doha (Qatar) and 13-14 June in Dubrovnik, on 27-28 June the RaceBirds will compete on Lake Maggiore, while on 18-19 July they will be in the Principality of Monaco, on 4-5 October in Lagos (Africa) and, seventh and final stage, on 8-9 November 2025 in Miami (Florida).
The race on Lake Maggiore
.The Lake Maggiore stage on 27-28 June will have a special 'flavour': it is the birthplace of the hydrofoil technology that E1 combines with electric propulsion in its RaceBirds. Indeed, Lake Maggiore has a rich history in the development of hydrofoils, starting with the first experiments by inventor Enrico Forlanini in 1906 and the first commercial passenger hydrofoil service launched in 1953 on the Locarno-Stresa route. Every RaceBird competing in the world championship is built here with contributions largely from Italian suppliers: a source of pride for the region, which showcases its skills, craftsmanship and technological innovation. "We are pleased to be back racing in Italy," said Rodi Basso, CEO and co-founder of E1, "for another exciting stage of the championship. Lake Maggiore is the home of our E1 RaceBirds, which are being tested here for the first time, and it will be a joy to see them battle it out on the water right where they were born. With conditions that promise to be some of the best ever seen at a race venue, it is easy to predict that it will be one of the closest ever.
How to watch the race
Fans and spectators wishing to witness the E1 Acceleration Festival races first-hand can book tickets here. In addition to having the chance to watch the E1 drivers race around tight and technical circuits at the wheel of RaceBirds, you will also have the chance to see 'Frankie', the very first E1 test craft. For those who prefer to watch from home, in Italy it will be possible to tune in to Dazn live throughout the weekend, from Friday's qualifying to Saturday's race, ending with the finals. E1 is broadcast in over 140 countries (on social @E1Series on Facebook, X and Instagram. #CampioniDell'acqua).
