The Bmw 507 won the Coopa d'Oro 2025 at the Consorso di eleganza in Vllla d'Este. The car was presented at the 1955 Frankfurt Motor Show. Designed by Albrecht Graf von Goertz, the sleek and balanced body combined with a 3.2-litre V8 engine made it an overnight icon. Unfortunately, the car's astronomical production costs proved to be a financial burden for BMW, with production limited to just 254 units between 1956 and 1960.
The unexpected success with Hans Stuck at the helm
Although the convertible grand tourer was never intended for motor racing, the BMW 507 achieved unexpected success thanks to Hans Stuck, the legendary King of the Mountain. In 1957, BMW managing director Heinrich Richter-Brohm persuaded Stuck to take part in uphill races with the 507 to gain publicity. At the age of 60, Stuck returned with unexpected victories in both the 1958 and 1959 seasons.
The Bmw 507 was produced in separate series
.The BMW 507 also took part in the 1957 Mille Miglia, the last edition of this legendary endurance race before it was stopped due to the tragic accident suffered by Count Portago. Although there was no official entry, a private Venezuelan, Enrique Muro. He brought his red 507 with starting number 525 to the event, deepening the link between the model and racing. The BMW 507 was built in two separate series. The first series was produced in March 1957 with a flat boot design and the fuel filler cap positioned on the bonnet at the rear.
The interiors are very sober
.The interior was very sober, with limited seat adjustment. The second series, introduced in mid-1957, featured a longer engine compartment, more luggage space and a more accessible fuel filler cap, repositioned on the right rear bumper. Slight interior changes were made to the seats and dashboard to improve comfort and practicality. This particular BMW 507 is a rare first-series model, one of 45 built before the production change in 1957, in the knowledge that supplying different models for the USA and Europe was just too expensive.
The name Brescia of the radio is apt
.The car was painted in feather white and fitted with Rudge rims and a Becker Brescia radio with an automatic antenna. The name Brescia for the radio is apt, as the 507 was delivered to Rome in July 1957 for the famous Mille Miglia, the car race from Brescia to Rome and back. A combination of names that turned out to be very apt at the time, making it a winner.
