Sir Elton John has revealed that he has lost his sight in a confession about his health described by the media as 'heartbreaking', the international press reported today. An admission made on the evening of 1 December on stage at London's Dominion Theatre, during a gala performance of the new musical The Devil Wears Prada for which he wrote the music. "As some of you may know, I've had some problems and have now lost my sight," said the 77-year-old music legend. "I wasn't able to attend the show, but I enjoyed it," she added, thanking her husband David Furnish, "who has been my rock."

Last September, the author of Rocket Man had admitted that he was left with "limited vision" in one eye due to a "severe" infection, but assured that he was on the mend. "Over the summer I've been dealing with a severe eye infection which unfortunately left me with limited vision in one eye," he had written on Instagram: "I'm healing, but it's an extremely slow process and it will take time for vision to return to the affected eye." Last year Sir Elton held the last show of his farewell tour in the UK in front of around 120,000 people at Glastonbury.
