Emilia-Romagna passes the law on assisted suicide
It is the third region in Italia, after Tuscany and Sardinia, to enact a law setting out the timeframes and procedures for medically assisted voluntary death
The Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna has approved the regional law governing the procedures for access to medically assisted suicide, in accordance with the rulings of the Constitutional Court.
The measure, supported by the centre-left majority and opposed by the opposition, sets out the timetable and procedures for verifying eligibility and carrying out the process across the region, pending the introduction of national legislation.
