Energy: Government sources; Confindustria gives significant recognition

“Target achieved on gas”

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - “The Government welcomes the acknowledgement by Confindustria President Emanuele Orsini of Italia’s efforts in Brussels regarding energy costs for businesses”. This is according to government sources.

“With the Energy Bills Decree,” they explain, “the Government had set itself the target of reducing energy costs by around 30 euros per megawatt-hour. The agreement reached at European level makes it possible to achieve that result. The mechanism sets a reference threshold at 59 euros per megawatt-hour. With the price of gas currently just under 90 euros, the reduction amounts to around 30 euros per megawatt-hour.”

“This result,” they conclude, “has been achieved through constructive dialogue with the European Commission, and it provides businesses with a stable framework on which to rely. The Government will continue to work alongside the business community to bring about a structural reduction in energy costs.”
