Fuel discounts for the agricultural and fishing sectors: following Eni, IP has also joined the scheme
Like the discount at the pump for members of the public, this measure will also remain in force until 31 October, but may be extended depending on market trends
Following Eni, IP has also announced a reduction in fuel prices for the agricultural and fishing sectors. These two separate measures respond to calls from these sectors, following those introduced for households from Monday 28 September.
Eni cuts by 20%
Eni’s measure, which comes into effect on Friday 2 October, will allow diesel and petrol for agricultural and small-scale fishing use to be purchased at a 20 per cent discount, excluding VAT. The decision, explains the six-legged dog, ‘forms part of the “Eni for Italia” initiative: it follows on from the price cap on diesel and petrol prices applied at participating Enilive stations since 28 September and the fixed-price discount on electricity and gas tariffs recently announced by Plenitude. Eni intends to make a further contribution of solidarity to the country and to two strategic sectors, namely agriculture and fisheries.”
The discount will apply until 31 October and may be extended until the end of the year, depending on market conditions and product availability.
‘Significant discount’ from Ip
Socar, on the other hand, has announced a ‘significant discount on the price of fuel for the agricultural and small-scale fishing sectors’. It will come into effect on Monday 5 October and remain in force until 31 October, with the possibility of a further extension. “A concrete initiative,” explains the Azerbaijani company Socar, “in support of two strategic sectors for the country: agriculture and fisheries are pillars of the national economy and the Italian productive fabric, essential for food security, the stability of supply chains and the quality of the produce that represents Italian excellence around the world. Through this initiative, Socar is once again demonstrating its solidarity with Italia, confirming its concrete commitment to supporting sectors that are fundamental to the country.”
The roof that collapsed on Monday
On Monday, as mentioned, the two energy companies began offering discounts at petrol stations for all members of the public. Eni has set a specific cap – €1.99 per litre for petrol and €2.19 for diesel – whilst IP has explained that this is a gradual adjustment.
