Ennio Doris enters Tech Europe Foundation
Collaboration in the platform to support research and entrepreneurship begins
The Ennio Doris Foundation has decided to join as a supporting partner the Tech Europe Foundation, the Milan-based organisation that operates as a European platform for transforming scientific research into new deep tech companies, which was established last year and into which the start-up accelerators Polihub, of the Milan Polytechnic, and B4i of Bocconi University have been transferred.
"Joining Tech Europe Foundation is part of a path that is consistent with the Foundation's mission, which is oriented towards creating concrete opportunities for the new generations. We believe that the dialogue between education, research and enterprise is a decisive lever to accompany talents on their path to growth and generate innovation and development for the country starting from skills and knowledge,' explains Sara Doris, president of the Ennio Doris Foundation. The organisation already supports a scholarship programme for deserving young people through agreements with several universities - including the Milan Polytechnic and Bocconi University and then also Cattolica and the University of Padua. "We are currently supporting 43 of them," Doris recounts. In the Foundation's activities, support for talent is the common thread. Hence the additional opportunity with Tech Europe Foundation: to harness talent in the field of deep technology, which is having a major evolution and impact. This is the first institutional activity of this magnitude for the Foundation'.
Established to give continuity to Ennio Doris' legacy of values, starting with education, it is now committed to the next leap: that towards entrepreneurship. The entry into Tech Europe Foundation envisages an initial 5-year commitment of 5 million euros. The aim is to continue supporting young people, while strengthening technology transfer processes and the growth of a solid, inclusive, European innovation ecosystem capable of generating structural and lasting impact. The collaboration envisages active participation in the processes of strategic direction and development through the provision of skills and experience. "Quality research is done in Italia, but then there is often a gap in its concrete application. To remove it, you need a number of players, you need a team: it's a great challenge,' Doris concludes.
The areas in which Tech Europe Foundation works are biotechnology, life sciences, robotics, quantum computers, materials technology and space. For President Ferruccio Resta, 'the entry of Fondazione Ennio Doris represents a further step in our development process, based on an open and collaborative vision. The contribution of partners who share principles, responsibilities and long-term perspectives is crucial to enhance research and support the birth and growth of new technology companies'.
The ambition of the Tech Europe Foundation remains to have an infrastructural, systemic value. Meanwhile, since February 2025, it has supported 610 new entrepreneurs, raising over 120 million euros. And the new 30,000-square-metre headquarters in Bovisa, in the Gasometri park, designed by Renzo Piano, will start welcoming the first offices before the summer.
