According to Siae data, Veneto hosted over 249,000 events in 2024, involving 25.7 million spectators for a total expenditure of over 420 million euros. From sold-out concerts to international fairs, passing through sports, festivals and amusement parks, the region confirms itself as a national hub of the events economy, growing, compared to 2023, on all fronts: shows (+2.8%), visitors (+3.5%) and expenditure (+0.8%). July and August are the busiest months, with shows accounting for a total of 23% of the annual offer. A sector that feeds an entire supply chain.

Events

.

According to the data, 5,884 venues in Veneto were involved: 1,380 for concerts, 1,453 for dances, 697 hosted sports events, 127 exhibitions, 57 fairs and 26 amusement parks and travelling attractions. Among the trends highlighted by the report at a national level, amusement parks and travelling attractions in particular showed significant growth between 2023 and 2024, respectively +37.8% and +14.7%, while for trade fairs growth at a national level was 10.9%.

In 2024 the region recorded the highest average attendance per show in Italy: 1,587 participants per event. On the amusement park front, Veneto is the national leader: with 4.8 million admissions, equal to 23% of the Italian total, it is the region with the highest number of visitors to theme parks, spending over 107 million. They are followed at a distance by pop, rock and light music concerts, which collect 60 million euro from 1.68 million people. Even for travelling attractions, the supremacy is clear: 27% of the national share. The trade fair sector, another mainstay of the events sector, sees Veneto in third place in Italy for the number of visitors, with 1.1 million in 2024.

The enterprises

.

This ecosystem of events generates direct and indirect economic value for the area by involving hundreds of craft businesses that provide essential services.

There are 2,758 companies involved in staging (including the entire chain of stage assembly and disassembly, event organisation and location) in Veneto, the entertainment sector (photo, lighting, audio and video) has 1,048 registered companies. In the catering sector, including take-away and catering, there are at least 2,550 artisan companies involved, passenger transport includes an army of 2,053 artisan entrepreneurs, and finally beauty, where there are 11,408 activities in Veneto between hairdressers and make-up artists.

The value of the events economy in Italy is substantial and growing, with a market that exceeds 4 billion euro per year in terms of spectator spending. The 'meeting industry' (trade fairs/congresses), on the other hand, is worth almost 12 billion euro in terms of economic impact on the territory. Proportionally, 7.4% of the total number of events in Italy was held in Veneto in 2024, while the chain of Veneto craft enterprises linked to events accounts for 8.5% of the total number of craft enterprises in the national chain.

Teamwork

.

Behind every stage, sports field, stand or merry-go-round an economy moves that involves hundreds of artisan and service companies, active in dozens of Ateco codes: in Veneto we are talking about almost 20 thousand companies that employ, as of 30 March 2025, 43,779 people. The Jousting District stands out in particular, which operates in the triangle of Vicenza, Padua and Rovigo (Alto Polesine) and with its allied industries creates work for over 1,500 people.

"Behind every big event there is a team of craftsmen working in the shadows," emphasises the president of Confartigianato Imprese Veneto Roberto Boschetto, "without them, concerts, fairs and events simply would not take place. We are talking about those who design and set up structures, those who take care of electrical, acoustic and scenic systems, those who make costumes, create props, build stage elements or provide logistics and special transport services. This is the less visible but essential dimension of an economy of events that in the Veneto region alone, in 2025, moved more than 60 million euro for concerts alone, with repercussions on tourism, hospitality and mobility".
