Eric Trump travelling with Dad to Beijing (while doing business with China)
Ft scoop on US president's son's conflict of interest in negotiations with Chinese chip manufacturer Alt5 Sigma
There would be a potential conflict of interest linked to the participation of Eric Trump, son of the US president, in his father's mission to China. This is revealed by the Financial Times, according to which Eric accompanies Donald Trump to Beijing, to the president of the People's Republic Xi Jinping, just as he is considering a deal with a Chinese chip manufacturer that is reportedly linked to the ruling Communist Party.
Las Vegas-based fintech company Alt5 Sigma, which has financial ties to World Liberty Financial - the Trump family's cryptocurrency company - last month signed a memorandum of understanding with Nano Labs to set up data centres in the US.
According to documents filed with the SEC, Eric Trump was appointed as an 'observer' on the board of Alt5 Sigma last year. Zach Witkoff, son of Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump's envoy to the Middle East, chairs the board.
Alt5 Sigma and Nano stated that they will use a '90-day evaluation period' to assess further cooperation on data centres for artificial intelligence, cloud platforms for artificial intelligence agents, and payments based on artificial intelligence.
