Sport 'marries' sustainability. The Vero Volleyball Consortium has obtained the sustainability assessment through the "Si rating" algorithm (Sustainability impact rating) based on international guidelines and standards and developed by Arb Sbrl, a Verona-based company that implements corporate sustainable development projects and strategies in partnership with Sasb (Sustainability accounting standards board). The Lombard professional sports club therefore recognises the importance of monitoring performance in the field of ESG ( Environmental social governance ), the 3 central factors in measuring the sustainability and social impact of a company.
The Esg results of Consorzio Vero Volley
.The Vero Volleyball Consortium scored 63% overall in the assessment, with the specifications of 52% under the environmental profile, 79% under the social profile, and 44% under the governance profile, and with important findings also in the alignment with the 17 principles of the United Nations contained in the 2030 Agenda (Sdgs). "It is a result," says Alessandra Marzari, President of the Vero Volleyball Consortium, "of which we are particularly proud, to have been the first company in the field of sport to choose to measure itself with Si rating for an ESG sustainability assessment. In this way we demonstrate once again the spirit of innovation that characterises all of the Consortium's activities, and we hope to highlight the issue of sustainability, which not only concerns environmental aspects, but also social, territorial and governance aspects, which are so important in our sporting world. For Vero Volleyball,' Marzari concludes, 'this step is an important confirmation of the quality and value of our daily work.
The Vero Volleyball Consortium was awarded the 'Start' Si rating level, reserved for entities with an index between 50 and 65 per cent: for next year the goal will be to be able to rise to the 'Bronze' Si rating level, which can be achieved by reaching a score between 66 and 80 per cent.
The analysis tool
."Pro Victoria and the Vero Volleyball Consortium," explains Ada Rosa Balzan, CEO and president of Arb Sbrl, "aware of how important it is to define a sustainability strategy in the current context, have decided to measure the degree of sustainability of their activities by adopting the Si rating analysis tool. This action outlines among the company's priorities the measurement, reporting and monitoring of its impacts according to the ESG criteria. Si rating also measures how well the company is aligned with the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through its daily activities and choices. The objective of the assessment,' Balzan concludes, 'is to start from the objective data that emerged from the analysis of the tools and best practices adopted and implemented over the past year by the structure in order to outline actions that will lead to continuous improvement in the levels of management of sustainability issues.
Pioneering choice
."Although we are aware that this is a starting point for new actions," emphasises Gianpaolo Martire, marketing manager of the Vero Volleyball Consortium, "our more than positive assessment already leads us to two main considerations. First of all, according to our objectives and the gap analysis provided to us, the work shows how the Consortium was born with social aims: sport is the medium, but territory, training, and caring for stakeholders belong to our corporate DNA. Secondly, it once again shows our willingness and propensity to listen to the market, to the needs of businesses, and the ability of Vero Volleyball to consistently and competently speak the same language as companies and partners'.
