ESMA: EU Parliament committee gives the go-ahead for Comporti’s appointment as chair
Vote in plenary session in the third week of September
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - The European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs has voted in favour of Carlo Comporti’s nomination for the chairmanship of ESMA, with 43 votes in favour, 1 against and 3 abstentions. The vote in the plenary session will take place in Strasbourg in the third week of September. Following confirmation by Parliament, the Council will adopt a decision on the appointment. The European Parliament committee also approved the nomination of Thomas Gstadtner as Executive Director of the European Banking Authority (EBA) with 46 votes in favour and 3 abstentions. Following confirmation of the appointment in plenary, the EBA’s Board of Supervisors will appoint the Executive Director.
