House Republicans have initiated contempt of Congress proceedings against Bill and Hillary Clinton. The former presidential couple refused to testify as part of the investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein case.
The initiation of proceedings
A committee of the US House of Representatives has voted to initiate contempt of Congress proceedings against Bill and Hillary Clinton for their refusal to testify in the Epstein case investigation.
The oversight committee tabled resolutions accusing the former Democratic president and former secretary of state of illegally ignoring requests to appear in person to explain their links to the paedophile financier who died in custody in 2019.
The entire House of Representatives will now decide whether to formally cite the couple for contempt and refer them to the Justice Department for possible criminal prosecution, at a date yet to be announced.
