Essilux: launches a share buyback programme for 5 million shares, citing "confidence in the company's prospects"
The deal is worth around 787 million euros
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - EssilorLuxottica has announced the launch of a share buy-back programme ‘which reflects the company’s confidence in its ability to create value and in its long-term prospects’. To implement the buyback programme, – as highlighted in a statement – the company has mandated a specialist intermediary to purchase up to 5 million shares, to be carried out, depending on market conditions, from today. At yesterday’s prices, the buyback is worth around 787 million and comes at a time when the share price (at 157 euros) is trading at a three-year low – partly due to the deadlock over Delfin’s governance – and has halved compared with last autumn’s highs.
EssilorLuxottica – the statement concludes – is launching this share buy-back programme in accordance with the nineteenth resolution passed by the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on 28 April 2026.
