"We have been following Russian operations against the EU and the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, for some time. Independent fact-checkers have clearly identified these operations in the context of the censure motion'. This was reported by Thomas Regnier, one of the spokesmen of the European Commission.

The affair

.

The motion of no-confidence against the president of the EU Commission had been tabled by the Romanian MEP, vice-president of the Ecr group, Gheorghe Piperea, and signed by 77 other MEPs from different political groups of the European extreme right. On 10 July this motion was rejected by the Strasbourg plenary with 360 votes against and 175 in favour. Already at the time, three days before the vote, opening the plenary debate, Ursula von der Leyen said that the motion had "been signed by Putin's friends". "These are movements fuelled by conspiracies and conspiracies, which want to polarise our societies, flooding them with disinformation," were her words.
