EU: Brussels launches ‘alliance’ of maritime sector manufacturers, with the aim of achieving industrial sovereignty
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - The European Commission has officially launched the new EU Alliance for Industrial and Maritime Value Chains, which will bring together maritime manufacturers, shipowners and other downstream users, Member States and their respective regions, investors and social partners. The aim is to strengthen European maritime industrial and technological sovereignty in identified leading markets, particularly in segments with the potential to boost European maritime production capacity. According to Brussels, the Alliance will promote targeted investment, public-private synergies and industrial collaboration towards joint actions and concrete projects, whilst addressing market, trade and competitiveness challenges in a more comprehensive manner.A call for participation published today invites interested parties to join if they meet the eligibility criteria and commit to pursuing the Alliance’s objectives. The call will remain open indefinitely, with an initial deadline set for 16 October 2026.
