Support for Italians who will follow the national team to Germany for the 2024 European Football Championship, from 14 June to 14 July . It is called 'Punto Italia', and it is a travelling consular post, set up on a mobile office of the State Police, which will move between the various German cities to provide assistance to the many Italian fans who will follow the Azzurri. The solution was presented at the Farnesina by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani and Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. The presentation was also attended by the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, and the Head of the Secretariat of the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of the Interior, Prefect Sergio Bracco.

Mobile consulate in stations or stadiums

The 'mobile consulate' will be placed at the places where Italian fans are most likely to flock, such as stations or stadiums. The cities where the national team will play are Dortmund (15 June Italy-Albania), Gelsenkirchen (20 June Italy-Spain) and Lipsia (24 June Italy-Croatia). Further stages will depend on the outcome of the qualifiers.

In the mobile State Police office, which will be set up in the livery of the institute and will also be staffed by State Police officers, Foreign Ministry staff on duty at the consular offices in Germany will offer a range of assistance services: contact with family members in Italy in case of need; issuing of emergency travel documents; assistance and/or linguistic intermediation with the local police force or in case of health needs; legal assistance.

'The government,' Tajani explained, 'is always committed to assisting Italians abroad: in this spirit we are presenting Punto Italia, a mobile consulate that will have the task of meeting all the needs of Italians who will follow the upcoming European football championship in Germany.

"Punto Italia, this mobile consulate that will assist our fans at the European Championships in Germany, is a very important initiative, an example of the synergy between our ministries that also shows a hallmark of our work: to follow our fellow citizens at all times and everywhere for their benefit and for their security," Piantedosi emphasised.

Abodi: 'Over 100,000 fans expected at the European Championships'

According to Abodi, 'Punto Italia, this initiative for the benefit of our citizens in Germany, is the symbol of the philosophy of this government, which is capable of being a team player in providing new services to citizens'. 'Italy,' he continued, 'is called upon to defend the title not only on the field but now, thanks to Punto Italia, also on the organisational front. Italy will be on the field not only with the blue jersey but also with our officials and agents in helping the more than 100,000 fans expected at the European Championships'.
