Eurozone, August inflation rises to 2.1 %

In August, the annual Eurozone inflation rate was up to 2.1 per cent, from 2 per cent in July. This was stated by Eurostat in the flash estimate. The value is stable at 1.7 per cent in Italy. Rates were highest in Estonia (6.2%), lowest in Cyprus (-0.1%). The statistical office of the European Union, examining the main components of inflation in the area, forecasts that the growth in the prices of food, alcoholic products and tobacco will be 3.2% (compared to 3.3% in July), that of services will be 3.1% (compared to 3.2% in July), that of non-energy industrial goods will be 0.8% (stable compared to July) and finally that of energy will drop by 1.9% (compared to -2.4% in July).
