Events and updates for Cersaie 2026
The 43rd edition of the International Exhibition of Ceramics for Architecture and Bathroom Furnishings returns to the Bologna Exhibition Centre from 21 to 25 September 2026 with some major new features.

Cersaie 2026 boasts a total exhibition area of 145,000 square metres and 597 exhibitors from 24 countries, confirming the event’s role as the leading international showcase for ceramics, bathroom furnishings and design. The exhibition programme covers the various product sectors that make up the world of Cersaie, from ceramic and non-ceramic surfaces to bathroom furnishings, from raw materials and equipment to installation materials and systems, right through to services for the sector.
“Sustainable energy for competitiveness”. The Cersaie opening conference will take place on Monday 21 September at 11.00 am at the Palazzo dei Congressi.
The Cersaie opening conference will be held on Monday 21 September at 11.00 am at the Europauditorium in the Palazzo dei Congressi. Following opening remarks by the President of BolognaFiere Gianpiero Calzolari and the President of ICE Agency Matteo Zoppas, the event will feature on stage the Minister for European Affairs, Cohesion Policies and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) Tommaso Foti, the Minister for Enterprise and ‘Made in Italy’ Adolfo Urso, the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region Michele De Pascale, the Chief Executive Officer of Eni Claudio Descalzi, the President of Confindustria Emanuele Orsini and the President of Confindustria Ceramica Augusto Ciarrocchi. The event will be hosted by the journalist Monica Maggioni.
The conference theme, ‘Sustainable Energy for Competitiveness’, analyses the challenges facing a sector with a turnover of 7.5 billion euros, which contributes 5 billion to the trade surplus and employs around 40,000 people, both directly and indirectly. Out-of-control energy costs and the burdens arising from the failure to reform the ETS system require responses at both national and European level. These factors also affect investment and make it difficult to compete on international markets, where ceramics and bathroom furnishings are leading sectors of Italian manufacturing.
The opening conference will follow the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Cersaie 2026, scheduled for 10.45 am at The Square – Service Centre. The 43rd edition of the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tiles and Bathroom Furnishings will feature 597 exhibitors from 24 countries, spread across an area of 145,000 square metres.

Cersaie reaffirms its role as a forum for international dialogue on architecture and design with a programme of events featuring some of the most influential contemporary designers and leading publishers in the sector:
“‘The Architecture of Infrastructure’, on Wednesday 23 September at 10.30 am at The Square - Service Centre, in collaboration with the architecture magazine THE PLAN, dedicated to the design of the new Line 2 of the Turin Metro, with UNStudio, Infra.To and Settanta7;
“‘Italian Singularities’, Wednesday 23 September at 2.30 pm at The Square, in collaboration with Casabella, featuring Francesco Dal Co and 13 Italian architectural practices;
Lectio Magistralis by Alejandro Aravena, Thursday 24 September at 10.30 am at Palazzo dei Congressi, in collaboration with the magazine Interni;
Lecture by Annabelle Selldorf, Thursday 24 September at 2.30 pm at The Square, in collaboration with the architecture magazine Platform;
Reverse Lecture with Francesco Faccin and Fulvio Irace on Friday 25 September at 10.30 at the Palazzo dei Congressi;
“AER Architettura Emilia Romagna” on Friday 25 September at 10.30 am at The Square, in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Region.
A topic a day with the “Café della Stampa”
Now in their 11th edition, the 15 sessions scheduled daily at 10.30 am, 12.00 and 15.00 in the Media Agora at Mall 29/30, continue the format of informal conversations dedicated to the most topical issues in design, architecture and urban planning, organised in collaboration with leading specialist Italian publishers. The central theme of the 2026 edition is the different ways of living, explored each day through a specific topic
– design, balancing functionality and aesthetics;
- leisure, dedicated to spaces for wellbeing and enjoyment;
- the home, with a focus on the evolution of the domestic environment;
- hospitality, focusing on accommodation facilities and models of hospitality;
- the city, dedicated to projects and interventions in the urban environment.
“Cersaie Disegna La Tua Casa” returns for its 13th edition.
On Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September, at Mall 29/30, the initiative dedicated to private visitors wishing to renovate or buy a home returns. Designers from 12 of Italy’s leading interior design magazines will be offering free, personalised consultations on architectural and interior design, underlining the attention that Cersaie also devotes to end consumers.
The world of tiling takes centre stage in Hall 19
For the second year running, the hall entirely dedicated to the world of tiling is fully booked: the beating heart of which will be the Città della Posa, where every day Assoposa will be holding technical demonstrations on large ceramic slabs, aimed at architects, engineers and surveyors. A large area is dedicated to the collaboration between Assoposa and Indexlab, featuring technological demonstrations focused on innovation in ceramic tile installation processes. The radio station Casa Radio is confirmed to be present again this year, and ample space will be dedicated to Formedil with a demonstration area brought to life by around ten young people each day, from Italian building schools. Finally, the “Cersaie World Tiling Lab”, an area of over 200 square metres where six teams of tilers from Italia, Switzerland, Denmark, Morocco, the United States and Brazil will compete in laying ceramic surfaces to create six different environments.
