Explosion in Munich, police follow the trail of a family quarrel Oktoberfest postponed
Behind the incident would be a man's suicide blitz against his parents' home
In Munich, operations continue to secure the area affected by an explosion this morning: the police have evacuated around 700 residents in a radius of two hundred metres around the house that was set on fire. Here, a man killed his father and injured his mother, then caused an explosion in the house; his body was found not far away. At the moment there is no information about his identity. According to the Bild newspaper, it was a dispute over inheritance that escalated.
The Munich Police confirms that there is no evidence for a connection between this morning's events and the Antifa political movement. In the Bavarian city last night several cars were set on fire and this could be the action later claimed online by Antifa, but it would have no connection with this morning's events. However, the authorities have decided to postpone the opening of the Oktoberfest to 5 p.m. and at the moment the entire festival air is being meticulously checked with dogs to make sure that there is no threat to the population. It is currently unclear, however, whether the festival will resume today.
A text entitled 'Antifa means attack' was published early this morning on the extreme left-wing website indymedia.org. The published text reads: 'In the early hours of the morning, we set fire to several luxury cars in the northern part of Munich and made house calls. In addition, the morning walk of a fascist did not end particularly well'. A police spokesman said that the police were aware of the situation and, as with all other leads, were investigating a possible connection. Early this morning, several explosions in the district of Lerchenau triggered a massive fire brigade and police operation.
