Eyebrows are the stars of the face

Some say they are 'the frame of the gaze' and others have made it an aesthetic philosophy. Certainly, eyebrows are no longer a negligible detail, but a key feature in the architecture of the face. Eyebrows have always been fundamental: they give us expressiveness, they make us unique. "Behind every eyebrow there is a world of style choices, techniques and make-up designed to enhance them," says Giulio Schettini, National Brow & Beauty Authority of Benefit Cosmetics, an iconic brand that has been laying down the law on brows since 1976.
Trends of 2025
This year, thin eyebrows are passing the baton. "Among the boldest trends are the Slit Brows, thick eyebrows interrupted by small vertical cuts that recall the scar effect, in vogue in the 1990s and 2000s. They give a gritty look, almost 'baddie' (in American slang, tough girl, ed.), a trend also proposed on the catwalks of recent Fashion Weeks. But not everything is aesthetic extremism; laminated eyebrows, perfectly combed upwards with specific waxes or gels, and Straight Brows, straight and clean for a lifted look, remain the protagonists. What changes is the way we comb them: every detail is designed to enhance and not to standardise".
Personalisation first
There is no 'one size fits all' in the world of eyebrows because every face has its own proportions to respect. "In Benefit's Brow Bars, we always work with customised mapping, both before a tinting and epilation service and before make-up - continues the expert -. We precisely define the beginning, the highest point and the end of the eyebrows, following the physiognomy of the face. We also play with style and uniqueness by ranging over different trends, but always respecting the three criteria defined by the mapping. Trends must also be read intelligently. Laminating, for example, originated as a corrective technique to give volume and structure to thin eyebrows, and has become a real fashion. In contrast, bleached brows, bleached until they disappear, are an artistic expression that works more in fashion than in everyday life'.
