Farnesina Collection: Marazzi’s new sculpture on child abuse
The work is situated within a park which has long been home to works by Arnaldo Pomodoro, Mirko Basaldella and Umberto Mastroianni, amongst others
A few days ago, at the Foreign Ministry and Cooperation Club, a ceremony was held to mark the donation of an Albanian stone sculpture entitled ‘Il Giuoco’ by the artist Paolo Marazzi (a pupil of Umberto Mastroianni), dedicated to all the innocent children who have fallen victim to wars and the folly of mankind. The work forms part of a park which has long been home to works by Arnaldo Pomodoro, Mirko Basaldella and Umberto Mastroianni, amongst others.
The ceremony was attended by the president of the Circolo degli Esteri, Ambassador Maria Assunta Accili, and received the support of the president of Venice International University, Ambassador Umberto Vattani – promoter of Rome’s new Contemporary District – and the president of the MAXXI, Emanuela Bruni. The work was donated free of charge by Gerardo Pelosi, a member of the Circolo degli Esteri, in memory of his father, Prefect Walter Pelosi, an art collector who commissioned the sculpture from Marazzi in 1979.
