"Since the war began, Gaza is truly living a tragedy that grows every day, because every day there are bombardments throughout the strip, in the cities that are in the south, but also in the north, even where I am in Gaza with my parish': speaking, interviewed by Catia Caramelli, is the parish priest of Gaza, Father Gabriel Romanelli. 'Even this night,' he explains, 'there has been heavy bombing. Every day,' says Father Gabriel, 'there are dozens of bombings, dozens of deaths, many children among the dead, dozens and dozens of wounded, and one more hour of war will only make the situation worse'.
After hosting up to 700 people, his parish now houses 500 people, including 58 dependents of the Sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, with children who have special needs. Father Gabriel recounts how every evening at 8pm the Pope continues to call them to encourage them and find out how they are doing.
