Federtennis joins the Sae Group (La Stampa)

First the board meeting of Sportcast (in the morning), i.e. the subsidiary company that manages the SuperTennis channel and that will be the vehicle for the operation. Then followed by the board meeting of Federtennis. The circle has closed. According to the Sole 24 Ore Federtennis is ready to enter the Sae group led by Alberto Leonardis (who in March signed a preliminary agreement for the acquisition of La Stampa from the Gedi group).

The approval of the two boards has given the definitive imprimatur to the operation that, at this point, will be put into practice at the time of the closing that will bring La Stampa into the Sae group, built up over the years by Alberto Leonardis, from Abruzzo, born in 1966, who built up his Sapere Aude Editori group by putting himself at the head of a consortium that in 2020 took over, again from Gedi, four local newspapers: Il Tirreno, Gazzetta di Modena, Gazzetta di Reggio and La Nuova Ferrara followed in 2022 by La Nuova Sardegna and in July 2025 by La Provincia Pavese.

The dowry made available is five million, for a share - according to the Sole 24 Ore - of 6.74% with which Sportcast will enter Sae (and upstream the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation of president Angelo Binaghi and vice-president, former M5S mayor of Turin and now MP, Chiara Appendino). The operation is to be read in the context of strengthening the narrative of a sport on the rise like tennis through the presence in a group that publishes, among others, a newspaper - La Stampa - that is the fourth largest in terms of national circulation but also the 'historical' symbol of Piedmont and Turin publishing (the city hosting the Atp Finals). With Fitp's entry into the Sae group, a member representing Sportcast is expected to join the Sae board with the specific task of overseeing everything related to the 'sports' circulation part of the agreement.
