Ferrari relaunched hybrid supercars and in Milan unveiled the 849 Testarossa, an electrified berlinetta on tap that takes the baton from the SF90 and raises performance to 1,050 hp.
849 Testarossa, a name from Heritage
.Testarossa is a name steeped in history that propels the Maranello marque into a future of high-performance, electrified supercars and, of course, great luxury, as is also suggested by the price, which starts at 460 thousand euro and 500 thousand euro for the spider version. Also available for both variants is the Assetto Fiorano version at a premium of just over 52 thousand euro.
The market debut is expected next year, in the second quarter for the coupé version and in the third for the spider variant.
Ferrari 849 Testarossa, a 1,050 horsepower powertrain
The Ferrari 849 Testarossa takes the features of the SF90 and also the hybrid architecture, which is updated with a completely revised V8 with a larger turbo, derived from the F80. This has raised performance by 50 hp over the previous version to a total of 1,050 hp. This is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox optimised for best performance but also a unique sound.
The hybrid unit consists of an electric motor at the rear and two electric units installed on the front axle and is capable of delivering 220 hp. The 7.45 kWh lithium-ion battery allows an electric range of 25 km and, thanks to its positioning, guarantees a low centre of gravity and optimal mass balance.
