Great public participation in the 18 halls and 4 city squares that hosted over 300 events, with a total of 40,000 admissions during the four-day event. The accommodation facilities recorded a substantial sell-out, confirming the extraordinary participation not only of Trentino residents, but also of the public who came from outside the city and province to follow the events of the Festival, Fuori Festival, Economie dei Territori, Incontri con l'autore and the live events of Radio 24. A significant confirmation for the new Festival formula devised by the 24 ORE Group and Trentino Marketing on behalf of the Autonomous Province of Trento and with the contribution of the Municipality of Trento and the University of Trento.

A success, therefore, for this special edition that celebrated 20 years of the Festival and 160 years of Il Sole 24 Ore, with an extraordinary opportunity for reflection and discussion that recorded truly significant numbers. There were 325 appointments, 750 national and international guests, including 115 personalities from the national and international academic world; 45 economists, 6 Nobel Prize winners, 66 institutional representatives, 17 Government Ministers and over60 exponents of the economic and financial business community. Along with all this, there were also over 30 presentations of new publishing releases.

This year's theme, 'Fatal Risks and Choices. Europe at the crossroads', has certainly proved to be an apt one for investigating the uncertainties of the contemporary world and trying to outline possible solutions and answers. Through a high-level debate on crucial issues for our future, which once again saw Trento and Trentino at the centre of the national and international agenda.

It is also a festival that increasingly speaks the new languages, that makes the new generations protagonists and that is increasingly followed by young and digital audiences. New for the 2025 edition was the 'Voices of Tomorrow' initiative, which for the first time gave voice on stage to young people, selected by the Festival's Scientific Committee and the Fuori Festival organising committee from hundreds of applications.

Tourist employment

.

In an already very favourable framework of hotel occupancy for the months of May and June, the Trento Festival of Economics further accentuated this positive trend. In particular, there was a peak in attendance between Thursday and Friday, with a hotel occupancy rate that exceeded 90%. This result confirms the important tourist impact of the event on the territory. The positive effect also extends to the city's businesses and entrepreneurial fabric, which benefit from the influx of visitors. In the medium and long term, the Festival will continue to generate significant media coverage on a national and international level, further strengthening Trento's attractiveness as a tourist and cultural destination.

Technology and innovation for the 20th edition of the Festival

A high-tech festival where about 170 audio and video technicians working in the 22 locations ensured on-demand broadcasting of almost all the events and of these more than 200 in live streaming. This 20th edition also confirmed the simultaneous translation service of events in non-Italian through an innovative remote system.

The Festival of Economics also conquers the digital

.

The day after the squirrel kermesse closed, confirmation arrived that the event also had a good result on the Festival's website and social networks. There were over 42,000 views of the events online between live broadcasts (+15% compared to the 2024 edition) and video on demand (+9%): a figure destined to increase thanks to the possibility of reviewing any video of all the events on the festival website at any time.

The Festival's social channels saw the management and constant monitoring of four channels. Overall, the content posted on the Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts was extremely popular, reaching a spontaneous virality of over 2.2 million views, through the publication of around 730 pieces of content, totalling over 40,000 interactions (partial data constantly evolving).

To further strengthen the Festival's digital communication, a number of influencer marketing activities were also added, which saw the engagement of @startingfinance and the profiles of @Nabila.finanza and @Economika___ (profiles dedicated to financial education, mostly targeting a young audience). The collaboration told around 700,000 unique users about the festival, who viewed the content produced over 940,000 times, producing 21,000 interactions.

This year, space was also given to the excellence of the territory and the main local stakeholders present at Palazzo Roccabruna (seat of the Trentino Lounge) where the creator @tassoculinario also reported on the food and wine part of the Festival, highlighting local chefs and producers on social media (partial data constantly evolving).

Furthermore, synergies were created with all the main stakeholders (territorial and non-territorial) who actively collaborated to communicate and promote the Festival of Economics on their social channels, amplifying a coordinated message and succeeding in engaging their vertical audience.

The 24 ORE Group's coverage

.

To these results must be added the great amplification produced by the coverage of the events of the Festival and Fuori Festival on all the social channels of the 24 ORE Group - Sole 24 Ore, Radio 24, 24 ORE Eventi, 24 ORE Cultura and 24 ORE System - reaching a total of over 7.5 million users.

Important numbers on the digital audience front: the live streaming events on the Sole 24 Ore website and social networks reached 600,000 users, while the coverage and commentary in the new live format of the main events were followed by almost 100,000 users, more than doubled compared to last year. The relevance of the topics covered and the guests who spoke is also demonstrated by the number of users who transited the Sole 24 Ore website, which exceeded 3 million during the days of the Festival.

Success also for 24Ore Podcast: the 8-episode live schedule of original podcasts produced by Il Sole 24 Ore and Radio 24, also drove online ratings, in particular the episodes of the daily podcasts of Il Sole "Start", "Macro" and "Market Mover", live from Trento or at the dedicated Festival, recorded over 100,000 audio streams.

Boom in views of the content created ad hoc for the group's social media, which totalled 3.9 million impressions, particularly through video coverage on Instagram. Among the most popular contents were the reflections of Nobel Prize winners, the speeches of Ministers, but also the Fuori Festival events, as well as the morning Press Review with the Deputy Editors of the newspaper, live from Trento.

During the Festival, the 160th anniversary of Il Sole 24 Ore was celebrated with various initiatives: the concert by the great maestro Uto Ughi 'Economia in Musica: Il Viaggio Sonoro di Uto Ughi per i 160 anni del Sole 24 Ore", an evening-event during which the faces of the 8 reader-readers who will be the protagonists of the communication campaign celebrating the 160th anniversary of Il Sole 24 Ore, Opinion Reader, were also unveiled; the exhibition "16per10 - 160 Years of Information in the Light of the Sun" set up in the historic courtyard of Palazzo Benvenuti, a visual journey through the crucial moments that have marked the growth of the country, the transformations of the economy, the evolution of society and technological progress recounted in the pages of the newspaper; the exclusive live preview of the "History Telling" podcast by Milan Catholic University professor Paolo Colombo dedicated to 160 years of Il Sole 24 Ore.

The fourth edition of the 'Sole 24 Ore Economic and Social Essay Literary Prize', launched three years ago in Trento, was also presented.

Media Coverage of The Festival of Economics

.

On the information front, the press office of the Autonomous Province of Trento, in conjunction with the press offices of Gruppo 24 ORE and Trentino Marketing, involved more than a hundred journalists, administrative and secretarial staff, operators, photographers and IT specialists. The team was also supported by the staff of the Trentino system's Communication Table, coordinated by the provincial press office, as well as by the communication staff of the local reference realities animating the "Economies of the Territories" programme.

Approximately 190 press releases were produced, of which 22 in English and German, around 5,000 photos of the festival were taken and selected for communication, 84 interviews and 94 video services were produced on the events. 1,163 subscribers to the Festival's media newsletter, plus 80 subscribers to the German-language one and 13 to the English-language translation. 368 journalists and operators accredited this year, 262 of whom were present in Trento, with reporters from the most important local and national newspapers.

The first press review data count to date a total of 522 articles in the various newspapers, 3,500 web articles and 183 radio and television reports. An intense work by the press, TV and local radio stations, which reported in a timely manner on the evolution of a festival rich in content, which encouraged debate, confirming the centrality of the event in the Italian and international debate.

The 24 ORE Group, present with around 300 people between editorial staff and the company, deployed all its information production capacity to recount the days of the Festival, producing four inserts dedicated to the event, from Friday 23 May to Tuesday 27 May, an online super-dossier on the Sole 24 Ore website and constantly feeding the digital platforms and social channels. Radio 24, in addition to the three live shows, including the unmissable appointment with "La Zanzara press conference" at the Teatro Sociale which sold out, broadcast 22 live broadcasts of the programmes on the programme schedule from Piazza Cesare Battisti, allowing the Trento audience to meet their favourite presenters and experience the emotions of live radio and behind the scenes.

The 2025 edition of the Festival also recorded an all-time record number of partners at the event: 52 business partners joined eight media partners: De Telegraaf, ElEconomista.es, Financial Times, Sky Tg24, Il Sole 24 Ore, ilsole24ore.com, Radio 24 and the press agency Radiocor.

Fuori Festival: successful entertainment, culture and innovation for all ages

The entertainment proposals of the Fuori Festival were also a great success, with the event evenings with singers Gaia, Brunori Sas, Manuel Agnelli with the young bands of the Carne Fresca review, comedians Amleto and Luca Ravenna, as well as the meetings with "I Visionari": from the young populariser Virginia Benzi, alias "QUANTUM GIRL", to the scientific populariser Stefano Mancuso, from pop populariser Antonio Losito to cartoonist Makkox. There was also great interest in the meetings of the new strand of the Fuori Festival dedicated to the Social Economy, including Paolo Ruffini's show "Din Don Down" with Ruffini and the Mayor Von Frinzius Company, composed of actors with disabilities. Finally, success for the MUSE initiatives dedicated to children with many educational workshops and entertainment. Also sold out were the appointments with Nicoletta Carbone of Radio 24 dedicated to wellbeing and mental health.

Great participation of students and families

Around 1,200 high school students from the Province of Trento and from outside Trento attended the festival. An extraordinary attendance that saw them follow with great interest not only the many events dedicated to them but also the more technical and scientific ones scheduled at the Festival. Among the public, in addition to the scientific community, the business community and young people, there were many families present, also from outside Trentino, who particularly appreciated the proposals of the "Fuori Festival", which this year featured a programme dedicated to MUSE. After the positive experience of the last edition, this year the Festival of Economics once again provided an electric train that ran through the historic centre of Trento, facilitating the movement of participants between the various locations of the Festival. One of the most appreciated novelties this year was the introduction of a free shuttle bus to the Itas Forum, thanks to the contribution of Itas Mutua.

Economies of the territories, a workshop of experiences to design the future

Confirmation for the "Economies of the territories" format, which has become a pillar of the Festival's proposal thanks to the commitment of the local realities of reference with 26 events in this edition. A series of appointments, realised in cooperation with Trentino Marketing and the Autonomous Province of Trento, spanning all the days of the Festival, during which Foundations, Institutions, Research Bodies, Third Sector Organisations and Trade Associations explored the dynamics of territorial development. Many themes were discussed: Innovation, inclusion, technology, development, culture and the bio-economy. Thanks are therefore due to Altroconsumo, APSS, Associazione Artigiani Trentino, Commercianti al Dettaglio del Trentino - Auto Dealers Category, Cassa del Trentino, CPO, Confindustria Trento, Confprofessioni, Consulta Provinciale degli Studenti, Fiavet Trentino Alto Adige, FIPE, Fondazione Caritro, Fondazione Demarchi, Fondazione Mach, Fondazione Negrelli, Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Giovani Imprenditori Terziario, HIT - Hub Innovazione Trentino, IPRASE, JETN, MUSE, Sanifonds, Trentino Digitale, Trentino Sviluppo and TSM - Trentino school of management.

Trentino Lounge - local excellence and Trentino hospitality for the Festival of Economics

The hosting of the Festival of Economics, which was held at Palazzo Roccabruna, home of the Provincial Enoteca and the home of Trentino products, was organised by Trentino Marketing, the Trento Chamber of Commerce and the Trentino Federation of Cooperatives, giving value to the message of these days: 'the taste of doing together'. The productions of the Melinda, La Trentina, Cooperativa Sant'Orsola, Astro, Agri 90, Agraria Riva del Garda, Trentingrana - Gruppo Formaggi del Trentino, the Provincial Federation of Breeders and the support of Levico Acque, Bontadi Caffè, Aflovit and the Province of Trento Bakery Association were highlighted. Special thanks to the Hotelier Professional Training Institute of Rovereto, which, with the young people, smiles and enthusiasm of its students, managed the service at its best. Over 900 guests enjoyed Trentino dishes during the four days of the Festival, including the 2001 Nobel Prize winner for Economics Michael Spence and chef Giorgio Locatelli of the Locanda Locatelli Restaurant in London. The city and the mountains were in the kitchen with chefs Mattia and Samuele Augurio of the Augurio Restaurant in Trento, Gianpaolo Burba of Maso Burba di Commezzadura in Val di Sole, the Rosspach Restaurant in Mezzomonte di Folgaria, the young chefs of La Taola and with the support of Stefano Goller, president of the Trento Chefs' Association.
