FiberCop: Lasorella says decision on new price lists will be made between late October and November
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Agcom’s decision on the new price lists submitted by Fibercop will be announced “shortly, between late October and November”. This was stated to Radiocor by Giacomo Lasorella, chairman of Agcom, on the sidelines of the conference ‘Article 21: the right to know. Press, books, radio and TV united in guaranteeing information and culture to citizens’, organised by Confindustria Radio Televisioni, AIE and Fieg.
The dispute, which concerns how much telecoms operators must pay to use Fibercop’s fixed-line network, arose after the company into which TIM’s former fixed-line network was merged submitted its new pricing proposals. The telecoms operators, in a letter sent to the Authority on 20 July, contested these proposals, and a new round of discussions then began between Fibercop and AGCOM, with further revised proposals put forward.
According to reports, a briefing on the matter could be presented at one of the Authority’s forthcoming meetings.
FiberCop, recognised by AGCOM as a ‘wholesale-only’ operator (i.e. operating solely in the wholesale market and not in the retail market, as was the case when the network was owned by TIM), may set its own commercial terms, but must comply with obligations regarding access, non-discrimination and fair pricing.
