Summer at the cinema again rhymes with Marvel: after films such as 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' in 2019, 'Black Widow' in 2021 or 'Thor: Love and Thunder' in 2022, the Disney-owned film studio is again banking on July to launch a new production.
"Deadpool & Wolverine" is a crossover that unites two decidedly different characters, two anti-heroes who find themselves having to work together to face a terrible new threat.
The third instalment in the 'Deadpool' saga (the first under Disney's hat, following the Fox takeover in 2019), the film follows the events recounted in 'Deadpool 2', a 2018 feature film that confirmed the box-office success of contemporary cinema's most unconventional and irreverent superhero.
After Tim Miller and David Leitch, directors of the two previous chapters, the signature of this new product is that of Shawn Levy, known for having directed "A Night at the Museum" (2006) and for having produced the TV series "Stranger Things" (2016). It should be noted that Levy had already directed Ryan Reynolds (the actor who plays Deadpool) in "Free Guy - Hero for a Game" (2021) and "The Adam Project" (2022).
These collaborations were probably instrumental in the choice of director, since Reynolds - as well as actor and screenwriter - is also the producer of this film, which is undoubtedly more ambitious than the two previous titles.
