Fire at a nightclub in Bangkok, at least 27 dead
The fire broke out around midnight in a pub in the northern part of the Thai capital; 22 people have been injured and are in a serious condition

NEW DELHI - A major fire ravaged a nightclub in Bangkok during the night between Sunday and Monday, killing at least 27 people and injuring dozens more.
Footage posted online by emergency services shows a huge blaze and thick plumes of smoke billowing from the entrance to the Na Ladprao Pub, located in the northern part of the Thai capital. The footage shows people trying to escape to safety as a thick cloud of black smoke rises into the sky. Rescue workers explained that the fire was reported around midnight.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who visited the scene, told journalists that there were at least 27 victims. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
According to Anutin, a musician who was performing at the venue told him that he had seen smoke coming from an electrical panel near the stage shortly before the power cut out. Immediately afterwards, there was an explosion and the venue was quickly filled with a thick cloud of smoke.
Many of the victims were found in the toilets at the back of the venue, where, however, there were no emergency exits.
