Heavy fire with 600 people evacuated from a campsite in Castiglione della Pescaia (Grosseto), in the Rocchette area. According to initial information, the fire was caused by a desalinator breakdown. Volunteers and the fire brigade are on the spot. There are also two fire-fighting helicopters in the air.
The flames caused some gas cylinders to deflagrate. The fire is spreading to the surrounding pine forest. By order of the prefecture, tourists are being evacuated to the sports hall where a collection point is being set up, with water and shaded areas. Autolinee Toscane vehicles and municipal school buses are being used to move them.
"Army tankers are coming to our rescue," explains the mayor of Castiglione della Pescaia, Elena Nappi. "We are setting up a reception point at Casa Mora, with water and mineral salts, which Conad donated to us," the fire "is taking over the pine forest, we are all on the spot. Nearby there are also houses and other tourist facilities behind the beach. The flames are taking over a historic pine forest.

Two helicopters of the regional system and teams from the Unione comuni Amiata Sud (Union of Southern Amiata Municipalities) and the voluntary forest fire-fighting organisation intervened. The flames were declared under control.

.The Sports Hall in Casa Mora was set up as a first aid and collection point. Inside, food, water, medical assistance (118) and the possibility of overnight accommodation with sleeping bags and cots. A total of 600 meals have been prepared for the evening and evacuees are gradually being received. Armed Forces tankers are pouring in from Grosseto, including Air Force, Army, and Savoia Cavalry Regiment vehicles. Also present were ten volunteers from Anpas Humanitas Grosseto, with an ambulance and two vans, coordinated by the civil protection. Among the authorities present was also former parliamentarian and minister Rosy Bindi, who reportedly personally alerted the Ministry for direct support.
