A fire broke out in Via della Corona Boreale in Fiumicino, not far from Rome's Leonardo da Vinci airport. The fire involves warehouses, waste and composting materials. At the moment the column of smoke does not affect the airport and there are no delays in flights arriving or departing from the Roman airport.
The police and the local police of Fiumicino are on the scene. A high column of black smoke is visible in the Parco Leonardo area, behind the Da Vinci shopping centre. This was announced in a note by the municipality of Fiumicino, underlining that "the flames involved a warehouse that can be traced back to the company Paoletti Ecologia".
"On site, the fire brigade and Civil Defence teams intervened to contain and tame the fire. The local police of Fiumicino were present, engaged in traffic management and in securing the area - concludes the Municipality - The temporary closure of via Corona Boreale at the height of via Idra has been ordered, as well as a further section of the same street at the height of the Arcaplanet shop, behind the shopping centre".
