Flotilla, Mattarella on humiliation of activists: 'Uncivil treatment, low level of a minister'
President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella speaks out on the Flotilla case, commenting on the video - in which National Security Minister Ben Gvir appears - in which activists are detained by Israel.
This was "uncivil treatment," Mattarella wrote in a note, "inflicted on people who were illegally detained in international waters, which reaches a low level at the hands of a minister of the government of Israel".
Cardinal Ravasi, impressive scenes, it is degradation of humanity
"In the face of impressive scenes such as those of the Flotilla, it is even more impressive to see a well-known minister of Israel with the noose as his emblem and after one of his death penalty bills passed, with all his acolytes celebrating with champagne, there is degradation of humanity. Soon the Pope's encyclical will come out, whose title is already significant: 'Magnifica Humanitas'. But it is also terribilis humanitas, the tendency is to lose hope'. This was said by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, president emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Culture, speaking at the opening ceremony of the 21st edition of the Trento Festival of Economics, organised for the fifth consecutive year by the 24 Ore Group and Trentino Marketing on behalf of the Province in collaboration with the Municipality and the University.
Fontana: unjustifiable treatment of Flotilla activists
"There is no reason that can justify such treatment of the activists, as shown in the images disseminated. I strongly condemn the words and gestures directed at them, unfortunately also by a minister of Israel. The contrast of ideas cannot turn into hatred or a violation of the respect due to people and their dignity'. Thus the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, on the case of the global sumud flotilla.
