Fondazione Fiera Milano invests in events, culture and training
President Giovanni Bozzetti takes stock of ongoing projects one year after taking office
President Giovanni Bozzetti takes stock of his first year at the helm of Fondazione Fiera Milano, beginning with a number of key concepts that encapsulate the vision he is pursuing: dialogue with the local community; the future – of the trade fair sector and the city of Milan; support for ‘Made in Italy’; culture and education.
“We have launched a very significant 2026–28 investment plan, involving an investment of 127 million, which has now risen to over 150 as we have increased our investment, with the addition of the Fiera Ice Arena and a number of improvements to the Live Dome and Fiera Milano Lab projects,” said Bozzetti, who also provided an update on the timelines for the construction sites currently underway.
Ice Arena and Live Dome
From October, Milan will once again have its own ice hockey venue, when the Italian league matches get under way at the Ice Arena at the Rho Exhibition Centre: “We will have a venue capable of accommodating up to 4,000 spectators, and today the management agreement was signed before a notary with a company in which we will hold a 25 per cent stake,” said Bozzetti.
The first events at the Live Dome are set to begin in the spring of 2027, marking Milan and Lombardy’s entry into the circuit of major singing and music events, not only in summer but also in winter. The venue, which will be able to accommodate up to 45,000 people, will be built in the pavilions of the Milan Exhibition Centre in Rho, where the speed skating events were held during the Olympic Games. “It will be Europe’s largest venue for events – particularly music events – in terms of capacity,” said Bozetti, “and will also be operational in winter, meaning incidents such as the one that recently occurred at La Maura – where a violent hailstorm interrupted a concert – can be avoided.”
Construction sites currently underway
Another major construction project is the new RAI production centre in Milan, where work is ‘right on schedule’, according to the president of Fondazione Fiera Milano. The building is due to be handed over in October 2028, after which Rai will need to carry out further work on the interior to ensure it is ready by early 2029.
