Daniele de Rossi will inherit the Roma bench from Jose Mourinho. The club announced the name of the new coach just hours after the (almost) surprise exoneration of the Portuguese Special One. "AS Roma is pleased to announce that Daniele De Rossi has been appointed as the new Head Coach of the First Team until 30 June 2024," the Giallorossi club announced in a note on their website. "We are delighted to be able to hand over the technical responsibility of AS Roma to Daniele De Rossi, as we believe that the leadership and ambition that have always distinguished him can be decisive in the pursuit of the goals that the team has in front of it until the end of the season," said Dan and Ryan Friedkin. "The emotion of being able to sit on our bench is indescribable, everyone knows what Roma is for me, but the work that awaits us all has already taken over," commented the former 'Captain Future'. We have no time, no choice: being competitive, fighting for our goals and trying to reach them are the only priorities that my staff and I have given ourselves.
Mourinho's exoneration
.The Giallorossi club announced this morning the exoneration of the 'Special One' José Mourinho (Radio24) and his entire staff. The situation was serious after the derby defeat and in Milan with the Rossoneri with a regressed team and many injuries and the arrival of Dan Friedkin in Rome today was clear that it could lead to important decisions. But that Mou would be exonerated so suddenly was harder to predict.
Mourinho and his technical staff have left the club with immediate effect. "We thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and commitment since his arrival at the Giallorossi," said Dan and Ryan Friedkin.
"We will always have great memories of his management, but we believe that, in the best interests of the club, an immediate change is necessary. We wish José and his staff all the best for the future,' added the owners of the Giallorossi club, who are now restarting the team with what has been one of its iconic players in the recent past.
Mourinho was announced as the 60th coach in Roma's history in May 2021. He led the team to the Conference League win in Tirana on 25 May 2022 and to the Europa League final in Budapest last season.
