(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor)- Brenner motorway closes 2025 with revenues at 428 million euros, up from 242.2 million the previous year. Net profit stands at €89.1m, despite a different tax rate of more than 5%, the turbulence in the financial markets in 2025, and the decrease in cash and cash equivalents following the payment of instalments on so-called 'extra-profits' and the railway fund, which brings financial management to more than €25m. Ebitda improved by 3.2% to 169.9 million and ebit reached 97.5 million (+7%); production costs fell from 333.1 million to 330 million.
Total investments reached EUR 145.6 million. More specifically, of the EUR 75.8 million, EUR 62.1 million was allocated to management innovations. Of the EUR 69.8 million used for maintenance, the largest portion, EUR 21.4 million, went to motorway surface maintenance, followed by EUR 9.9 million for plant maintenance, EUR 8.2 million for the maintenance of works of art, EUR 7.8 million for the maintenance of signs and safety barriers, and EUR 5.7 million for green works, to name the main items. There was a slight increase in traffic volumes compared to 2024, with 5.32 billion kilometres travelled along the motorway ribbon linking the Brenner Pass with Modena and over 46,000 average daily vehicles.
"The company," commented CEO, Diego Cattoni, "achieves convincing results in all key indicators: from turnover to production value, from ebit to investment volume. These are key indicators for any company and testify to its performance potential. We are determined to prove the value of this company also in the tender for the new concession.
Accident rate still falling
The year 2025 saw the overall accident rate (number of accidents in relation to vehicles per kilometre per hundred million) fall further to 14.54, more than a point lower than the 15.97 of 2024; it should be noted that the national average is 27 (last available Aiscat data for 2023). High Speed in Verona
The Board of Directors has approved the construction of the new high-speed rail underpass, which will expand the capacity of the existing railway lines while at the same time creating functional works for the third lane of the A22. The work will cross the motorway at kilometre 225, not far from the Verona Nord motorway station, and will have an estimated cost of 51 million euro, 31 of which will be borne by Autostrada del Brennero and the remainder covered by Rfi. Also for Verona, the Board of Directors also approved the rebuilding of the subway at the Verona Nord motorway station.
