MVC Group opens its tenth overseas branch in the UK
This is the third transaction to be finalised in less than a year – the three-year plan forecasts turnover growth to around 150 million euros by 2028
Key points
This is the tenth overseas branch for the MVC Group, based in Fonzaso (Belluno), a leading manufacturer of technical clothing for cycling and outdoor sports. The chosen location is the United Kingdom, with the establishment of MVC UK Group Ltd, which will manage the direct distribution of the Castelli and Sportful brands in Great Britain and Ireland, generating synergies and operational efficiencies that will enable the group to significantly strengthen the presence of the two cycling brands in the region.
The service
Direct management of distribution will enable the Group – as explained in a statement – to offer a more comprehensive, rapid and integrated service to customers, who will be able to rely on access to the parent company’s entire product catalogue, as well as on the continuity and quality of the service. The establishment of the tenth branch is in line with the Group’s multi-channel development strategy, which aims to maintain a more efficient presence in selected markets where it intends to support commercial expansion, including through dedicated investments.
Founded in 1946 by the Cremonese family, who still control the group today, MVC is a leader in the technical sportswear sector for cycling and the outdoors. It operates through four brands: Sportful, founded in 1973 and active in cycling and cross-country skiing; Castelli, a historic cycling clothing brand founded in 1876 and acquired by the Group in 2003; Karpos, founded in 2007 and specialising in technical outdoor clothing for mountaineering; and finally Zoot, a brand founded in Hawaii and a US leader in triathlon, acquired in 2023.
The Group has been partly owned by the private equity fund Equinox since 2019 and now operates in 75 countries worldwide, with 10 companies and 500 employees, and a consolidated turnover that exceeded 110 million euros in 2025.
The strategy
This latest move follows the acquisition of Wolvenberg, announced last February, which led to the creation of MVC Benelux. It is also consistent with the move made by Zoot Sport, a Californian brand specialising in triathlon clothing and accessories, which acquired Tailwind Brands GmbH, its European distributor, last October, with the aim of accelerating its expansion across the continent.
