Former Ilva: Court of Appeal reserves judgement on halting the suspension of the hot area
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - We will have to wait a few more days to find out the Milan Court of Appeal’s decision on the fate of the hot zone at the former Ilva site. As legal sources confirm, the appeal court judge, at the conclusion of the hearing, reserved judgement on the proposal to suspend the enforceability of the decree which, in turn, ordered the shutdown of the coking plants and blast furnaces at the Taranto steelworks. The application to place the decree suspending operations in the hot area on ‘standby’ comes from the two companies, Acciaierie d’Italia and Ilva, which are under special administration. The Court of Appeal’s decree at the end of July stipulated that the shutdown must take place within 90 days, meaning the deadline is by the end of October.
