Music, dance, exhibitions and meetings. L'Estate al Forte di Bard 2024 is all this, with appointments until 31 August and extraordinary openings every day, Mondays included, from 29 July to 8 September (weekdays from 10 am to 6 pm, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 7 pm). "This edition reserves opportunities for reflection and moments of entertainment of absolute value," explains the president of the Fortress of Bard, Ornella Badery, commenting on the programme that ranges from the light-hearted nostalgia of the 1980s to issues such as gender violence and the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.

"The exhibition is a source of cultural enrichment for the area and attracts thousands of visitors not only from Italy but also from abroad, with a positive impact in terms of tourism," emphasises Ornella Badery. A few numbers are enough to confirm this: 130 thousand admissions in the first five months of 2024, against 117 thousand in 2023, a year in which a total of 304 thousand visitors were counted (22% more than in 2022). Only in recent weeks, due to bad weather and the heavy flooding, has a slowdown in tourists been noticed, but in the region they are confident of a summer comeback.

The rooms of the Lodgings of the Museum of the Alps host the exhibition Terre bianche (White Earth), with the works of Davide Camisasca, photographer and mountain guide born in Milan but resident for over fifty years in Gressoney-Saint-Jean, at the foot of Monte Rosa. It is precisely Monte Rosa that is the home mountain that Camisasca has travelled and portrayed throughout his life. There are spectacular black and white views of Mont Blanc, with an almost dramatic effect. Finally, the reportages from trips to the faraway lands of Mustang and Tibet. A world of horses and horsemen, warriors and ancient gods, jugglers and dancers is what the works of Marino Marini, one of the most important Italian artists of the 20th century, offer.
